Saffron Walden.net website was established by locals aware of a shortage of centralised information on businesses, clubs, and facilities, who only heard about up and coming events either by accident, or on a glance through one of your free newspapers. We realised that Saffron Walden, its 15,000 residents in the town alone, and residents in surrounding areas had a lot to offer, and believed that if we let others know of our skills, products and services, we could help encourage local trade and interaction, providing a highly beneficial community oriented service. Also, we believed that for residents of the area, we could also help provide suggestions of places to visit, both within the town, or within an specified region/range, which many locals may not made aware of. As such, we set up the website to consolidate information on the presence of any businesses (both large and small), local clubs (of which there are allegedly a record number per capita), charitable organisations (so we are more aware of local causes), local government and council information, as well as any Fundraising work and events we are made aware of. Whether single, as a couple, a family or as a group, we trust the site will provide more of an insight into suitable activities with which you can partake. So please register on the website, allowing you to then submit your details to the directory, articles to the website, events to the relevant Calendar, and discussions on the forums. In order to keep this site up to date, we also have a number of volunteers who 'approve' content for suitability to publish. (Approval is not based on information accuracy, but based on suitability for the site). Although some of these also provide some of the site content, the majority comes from readers submissions. As such, contributors to the site are welcomed, and perhaps you can even regularly add your own articles to the site. Suggestions can be emailed in to us, and articles can be posted Together we can make this website a point of reference for everything local.
