Local businesses, clubs and charities make use of community oriented local website
Local clubs, businesses, charities and other organisations can now benefit from a FREE service offered by a local website. From sports clubs, musicians and performers, to fundraisers, freelance workers, tradesmen and shops, everyone is encouraged to register themselves, and be easily and safely contacted directly through the site. Contributors can even post articles, events (including sporting tournaments), Fundraising activities, local initiatives or church events, special offers, and much more, all free of charge.
This Saffron Walden website guarantees that details will never be sold onto other organisations, and believes it can offer the town a single, quality, point of contact for finding out about what is happening in the area, as well as encouraging us to use local services, many of which we perhaps did not know existed.
saffronwalden.net is intended to compliment existing local media, accessible directly from the website. “The news headlines and local exclusives are primarily for the newspapers with their teams of roving reporters. We hope those that appear keep us posted on progress, so we can keep our readers updated long afterwards,” said Richard Scott, owner of the site.
Developed and sponsored by local firm Temasi (Technology Made Simple), owner and local entrepreneur, Richard Scott, has stated that it is his goal to ensure that it is easier to find out what is going on in the area. He also added that the website would enhance local interest and a greater community spirit by offering people the ability to actively contribute to the site, on a regular or ad-hoc basis.
“Often, we only find out at events by accident, or at the last minute. By having an events Calendar, divided into appropriate categories, such as family oriented, local events, fund raising events and so on, we are able to allow people to be selective about which of the many events in Saffron Walden and surrounding area they attend” said Richard.
“With website development being one of the services offered by Temasi, this project has been an exciting addition to the business portfolio and has allowed us more contact with local people which we would not otherwise have had. It has already been a very rewarding project, and we are confident it will offer the town something new” said Richard.
Confident that the website will be a town success, based on feedback from local companies and charitable organisations, Richard believes those living in, or visiting Saffron Walden will gain a richer feel of what our town has to offer.
